The Long Tail - Don't quit your day job.
Maybe this blog on The Long Tail has a point. Don't expect to get rich on web 2.0 by deliviering content. If a skilled blogger like Guy Kawasaki has trouble earning enough for living on his blog then who can?
On the other side. He's not starving and gets a lot of indirect and secondary income from the blog. If Guy was really depending on squeezing money for food from that blog, he probably had a lot of ideas left to test. For example trying some diversity in Ads and not rely on Adsense only.
Which reminds me that Idékampanjer uses Adsense too. But as mentioned before: we use it as insurance. We don't expect to get rich from this site but rather on our ideas. And we got qualified daytime jobs already. Our Adsense is there to hedge our internet traffic bills. If we should be "Slashdotted" (or is it "Digged" one should say today?) then it's a nobrainer to pay for the traffic. We won't get rich, but Google will at least cover our traffic bills. If we too can squeeze the check out of them.
